Palma Beach is a tourist destination of exceptional scale and activity that has to redirect its energy in order to achieve a residential and vacational enclave with an ambitious urban, social and environmental content. The Master Plan resumes the strategies to improve the quality and to reduce the temporarity together with the aim to construct a complete fragment of the City of Palma and, in a wider context, the whole island of Mallorca.  Therefore we state that currently 23.000 permanent residents cohabitate with an overall hotel capacity that duplicates this number adding an extra 50.000 persons during high season. This ratio should be more balanced without reducing the added value of the touristic sector by having less beds, but with a higher quality and by augmenting the number of permanent residents at the same time converting Palma Beach into a real city. This proportion should be balanced without taking out the touristic value. To sum up, the project for Playa de Palma, consists on articulating a renovated maritime front that we call Blue Beach (Playa Azul) and with an ample serviced natural space to its back- The Green Beach (Playa Verde)- constituting the residential front for the new inhabitants.
