Modern Art museum
The intention is to create a museum that supports a wide range of audiences, formats and events, deploying an architecture that assigns the main role to art and people, shows a distinctive image while avoiding sophisticated technological resources, establishes a dialogue by contrast between the two different periods represented by the Robledo Workshop and the new building-, makes the MAMM a symbol of the new era Medellin is striving to consolidate, clings to the city… But above all, an architecture that understands that –nowadays- a museum must also be an awareness center, not only art-wise but also in terms of the present concerns. Therefore, we aim to achieve en exemplary performance in environmental sensitivity, miscegenation, experimentation and any action which contributes to blurring the boundaries between people and disciplines. The museum stacks six double-height levels, piercing them with a core, generating three different spaces per plan. The order and purpose of each level, as well as its programmatic distribution, is completely free. What is shown here is just a preliminary approximation to the required program and a demonstration of the proposed system’s versatility.
