Ecological Mountain resort

A complex enclave marked by centenary forestal and agricultural activities has been chosen for a mountain resort. Apart from skiing slopes the program contains various sport facilities, a riding school, a golf course, a centre for alternative medicine, an ecological food market amongst others. The masterplan has to establish the necessary strategies in terms of program, geometry, typologies, architectonical and landscaping guidelines and especially environmental issues as it is planned to make this project a model case of its kind. The proposal is based on a relatively compact centre with hotels, apartments and services in order to avoid an uncontrolled and unsustainable sprawl into the surrounding landscape. Its temporary use invites to try out new forms of living. Flexibility, diversity and the capability to adapt over time are the principles of a plan where the buildings act as natural species that occupy the clearing, a new ecosystem whose founding act is the massive plantation of trees converting the hamlet into the nursery of the species that will repopulate the valley. An urban farming program, a water treatment and storage system and an ecological transport system will complete the new landscape.
