MCHAP Awards 2014 – Nominated
The section of the tower is organized as the stacking of four separate buildings. The lowest piece welcomes the city in through the ground floor lobby, hosting the offices of the Bank, upon which a six-story parking is located. The remaining three sectors set back as they rise, generating terraces which gaze in every direction, poking over the sea and the Historic Centre. Each prism can be regarded as a small canonical office building featuring its own lobby, which hosts the common programme: a restaurant, a gym and a relaxing lounge. On its upper level, a representative hall appears as a beacon for the city. The building envelope is materialized by means of a curtain wall clad in glass panels which vary in colour and opacity, introducing a vibrant effect of randomness in the facade caused not only by the ranging opacity and reflection, but also by the scalar ambiguity of the standardized elements that never coincide with any obvious horizontal line of the building.
