Public administration building
The open-plan office structure of this building marks the working dynamics within. We decided to maintain the appearance of constructing the entire available volume. It is wrapped in a grand veil that is hiding enigmatically the real building. By cutting back the full prism terraces are liberated that extend the office into an intermediate space where light, noise and the perception of the exterior are manipulated by the perforated panels of the façade. This strategy pretends to establish a rich conversation with the direct surroundings, generating a diversity of situations and interpretations at all scales: from inside and outside, by day and night, from far and near, at driving speed of a car or strolling pace of a pedestrian. Furthermore it receives a powerful tool for environmental control as the perforated sheets allow for natural ventilation and sun shading whilst offering an intriguing image, evanescent and very own of the building.
