The design for the second edition of the GABINETE fair exhibition in the halls of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando is marked by the lengthy proportion of spaces available to generate an uninterrupted sequence of small rooms that recreate the memory of the “Wunderkammern” cabinets in which each exhibitor inhabits in an intimate and customizable space that offers maximum flexibility for piece’s exhibition without visual contamination or distractions.
The architectural deployment is based on a multiplication of the vertical planes thanks to a system of metallic meshes that recreate the aesthetics and constructive logic of the combs and art stores of museums and galleries, places traditionally enigmatic and inaccessible that is completed with a series of horizontal planes reminiscent of the work desks of the printing shops. This paradoxical effort to make the architecture disappear to minimize any impact of the container on the content is resolved in the constructive aspects of the proposal. Modularity pragmatism, industrial repetition, versatile lighting and material lightness are the conceptual resources of an exhibition project that wants to connect subliminally with recognizable atmospheres from the world of art.
