The Volleyball Stadium has been planned as a structure placed on the main vertex of the public space foreseen by the master plan. Nevertheless we have been looking for a generic and monumental form able to coexist with other urban developments with enough autonomy. Through its plasticity and characteristic form it could well become a symbol of the games. The big central court generates a volume which is elevated above its entrances creating an interesting public space which is occupied by a restaurant extending to the exterior connecting with the entrances for public and artists. The regular circular form and the symmetrical layout result in a clear functional simplicity, both in the utilization of the building and its evacuation in case of emergency. The section reflects clearly our concept: a radial structure of linear concrete elements confines the circular central court and the tribunes for 4.000 spectators. A three-dimensional resistant skin generates the circulation spaces and the training facilities.
